The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) is a set of US government regulations that control the import, export, and temporary import of military goods. The purpose of ITAR is to: (i) safeguard national security, (ii) further U.S. foreign policy interests, (iii) govern the furnishing of defense services, and (iv) regulate brokering activities involving items described on the U.S. Munitions List (“USML”).
